The front room of the Reading Room underwent a major refurbishment during February 2018. A team of volunteers, under the watchful eye of Stephen Wells, removed all the exhibits and models from the walls and ledges, to enable a complete clean down and repaint. Then everything had to be put back – no mean task, but the result is stunning.
To mark the end of the Great War, the Reading Room hosted a presentation by The Southwold Players “Lest we Forget, Southwold Remembers” – a moving performance of poems, prose, songs and recollection, in memory of men of Reydon and Southwold who fell in the Great War 1914-1918. It was a moving experience and the retiring collection of £303.24 was donated to the British Legion. photos by Graham Denny
